Bath RSCDS Risk Assessment Policy

The Commitee of Bath Branch of the RSCDS has adopted the following as guidance for teachers and those in charge of dances in assessing risk at classes and events for which the Branch is responsible.

Check floors for any hazards ensuring personal belongings are not on the floor.  Dancers wear appropriate footwear.  The floor is sprung or the risk of the floor is assessed and dancers made aware.

Breaks in classes to ensure that all dancers have a rest and a chance to rehydrate if necessary.  Dancers advised that they need to bring their own water.

Class teachers ensure sets are spaced apart and that dancers have had adequate training to perform the steps and arm holds required.  Dancers advised not to pull or push other dancers.

Dancers are warmed up and there is cool down time.  Class teachers should lead these sessions unless the class is experienced when dancers may undertake their own warm up. Dancers should stop dancing if muscles are affected.
